Hi, this is my first post on this forum so if it is in the wrong area, please excuse me. I am looking for one of the Winchester Model 1897 riot guns marked on the right side of the buttstock Property of the Virginia State Police. Both my dad and father in law are retired members of the department and I have collected VSP items since I was a kid.

Good look. If I come across one, I’ll probably buy it for myself as seeing the only real genuine one Ive seen was in a museum and the rest of them out there Ive come across are fakes.
One can dream though. There are occasionally some that will come up for auction on the premiere auction websites. If you got the money that is where I would start, especially if your wanting one in a hurry.

I have a Model 12 riot from the Washington State Patrol and a High Standard 18-7 from the Montana State Prison.
I would very much like to know where my 1897 riot spent the early part of its history, but alas, that is an unrecoverable lost fact.

I have a Winchester 1897 Riot Gun like new. I don’t believe that it has ever been shot. How interested in it are you? Let me know

I would be interested, if it is marked on the right buttstock flat Property of the Virginia State Police. Is is so marked?
There are no markings on the butt plate except Winchester Repeating Arms Co. No State police markings.
Thank you very much for contacting me but I need one that is VSP marked.
