Hello

I have a 1897 shotgun with serial #79230. I have attached a picture of it. Except for finish , the gun is very solid. I am very new to this but just wanted to know if this shotgun would be a good candidate to be turned into a M97 trench gun or should I just leave as is. Thank You

You have to remember most of us on this Forum are collectors.

If your gun has any condition at all and it has not been messed with I would recommend that you leave it alone.  It was manufactured in 1899 and should not be shot with steel pellets.  If you want a trench gun clone you should look for something that is not worth saving and convert that.  There are a lot of clones out there for sale.

Your pictures didn’t load.
