I have a 1887 that appears to be from 1898, and it looks to be in great shape inside and out. How can I determine if it has been reblued? I have not fired it, but I can tell that it has been fired. Can someone recommend a known expert near SE Georgia or North Florida?  The entire shotgun looks to be in great shape, but I have no intention of ever shooting it.

Tony,

The Model 1887 shotguns were made with a case color finished receiver frame, lever, and hammer. If those parts are now blued, you have your answer.

Unless you actually have a model 1901, then it would be blued.

Can you post some pics of it?

Sincerely,

Maverick
