Hello, I just fInd here in Belgium a WINCHESTER 1866 (yellow boy), sn 165355, in CAL 44.
It should have been imported around the years 1884-1886 (or after …) in Belgium. So is it possible to know the year of exportation ?
There is another particularity : the gun has been improved in Liège which is still the place for that job in Belgium and the gunsmith put his name on the butt : J.PIRE in ANVERS (which is a wellknow Belgian town and a known gunsmith). So have you already saw this kind of markings ?
I am not able to put pictures but will try again … sorry !
Stephane from BRUSSELS/BELGIUM.
I checked my research and didn’t found anything mentioning PIRE or ANVERS. I did find a 76 carbine with Belgium proofs.

I have a beautiful engraved hammer side by side double barrel 12 gauge shotgun marked “J.Pire &Co.Anvers” on the side plate. It has the word “Buffalo” in gold inlay in the rib and horn buttplate and fore end 1cap. It is a high quality firearm. I have owned it for almost 60 years and used to hunt waterfowl and pheasants for several years with it. Attached is a link that I found concerning the history of this company and information on the “Buffalo” model shotgun.
