I just purchased a model 94 WCF 30. It has some special characteristics. I have tried to do some research and think it has had a barrel replacement at some point. Any information about the riffle would be greatly appreciated. I guess I just want to know how much is original to the receiver and what has been replaced/added to the rifle.
No, you did not pay too much. It is easily worth $500 as “shooter’ grade rifle.
That stated, almost none of it is factory original. Originally, it was a Model 1894 Sporting “Rifle” (not a Carbine). The entire front end of the gun consist of replacement parts, and the butt stock, butt plate, pistol grip cap & screw are also not original. The only original part is the serial number receiver frame, and it has been reblued.
