Sounds like your magazine tube is undersized. The magazine tube should have an OD of 0.645″-0.648″. The magazine end cap will have an OD (what inserts into the magazine tube) of 0.562″. Your existing magazine tube is likely a little loose in the magazine retaining band??
There should be a caliber marking on the underside of the barrel (However, I believe there was a forum topic some time ago regarding the absence of a caliber marking on 30WCF but cant recall for sure).
I have since found that link: https://winchestercollector.org/forum/winchester-rifles/winchester-1894-that-doesnt-letter/

The magazine tubes were identically sized for all five of the standard cartridges that Winchester chambered in the Model 1894… all five cartridges shared identical rim diameters (and corresponding extractor/ejector springs).

Bert, thank you for the info.
That makes sense as to why Winchester only had a one size fits all magazine tube. I’m still confused to why mine is smaller in diameter. My first thought is that the current magazine tube is most likely not the original magazine tube but then that begs the question why does the forearm tip and the magazine tube ring fit it perfectly? Both those parts were specifically made for my undersized tube. I’m not aware of Winchester or any other company doing this.

Corey,
I suspect that the magazine tube, retaining ring, and forend cap you have are not original Model 1894 parts. The Model 1892 used two different size (diameter) magazine tubes and corresponding parts, the larger for the 38 & 44 WCF, the smaller for the 25-20 & 32 WCF. You might have parts for a Model 1892 small caliber.

Bert,
Would you happen to know the diameters of the magazine tube for an 1892? I didn’t think of that..
Thanks!
Corey
The small caliber mag tubes are approximately .53″ whereas the larger caliber tubes are approximately .66″

Small caliber 1892’s I have mag tubes that are 0.520″. Large caliber 0.648″ (Same as 1894).

Naw, some folks think they have to clean up after themselves. They don’t realize that other folks may be interested in the question and may learn something from the answers given. I was hoping for pics so I’m a bit bummed.
