I am really amazed and grateful for all who took the time to comment. I like the idea of a replacement barrel and I thank Clarence for the link to that site.
I have ordered a “letter” from Cody. Once I have the original caliber I will have it re-barreled to that caliber, even if it is 40-82.
Thanks again, Richard
[Image Can Not Be Found]It’s been awhile since I’ve been here. Six or seven years ago I purchased a ’86 in 40-82 cal. and shot it a few times and seems like my best was about 3″ moa at 100 yards. Anyway, at that time after posting on here, with some of the extras on my rifle with a single set trigger and a more rare front folding sight, but average condition rifle (shooter grade), I did get a Winchester letter confirming the single set trigger. Happy with a initial cost of $2200. and after adding all the other cost of brass and dies, letter and misc., still happy. Have some pics I’ll try to send a pic shows a odd barrel damage about a inch from the muzzle, but other wise some strong rifling. Also came with a nice marbles tang sight. 2511042f-a3e8-4152-9687-2cc944ea638d_
