I found this 1885 in an auction site and had to get it. It has a bunch of stuff going for it, but I am a fan of 25-35.

All the features letter and the gun is in great shape. I hope to be shooting deer or antelope this fall with it.

Fantastic SS!  Every option a knowledgeable rifleman could want: swivels, DS triggers, & SG butt.  If I could go back to the time it was built, this is the gun I’d order!

Here’s the one thing missing:  https://www.gunsinternational.com/guns-for-sale-online/parts-ammo-accessories/accessories-american/original-winchester-delux-fishhook-sling-swivels.cfm?gun_id=101958324

They’re well-made repros, but listed at half what they usually sell for; you’ll look a LONG time to find originals.  Any saddle shop can make the strap.

Fantastic find!  Absolute screamer!!!  Congratulations on your good fortune.  I agree with Clarence, you couldn’t find a better optioned rifle.  I especially like the very rare take down feature.  Laugh   RDB

We have a recent production 1885 in .223 and the thought has crossed my mind to have it re-bored for 25-35.

Cheap & plentiful .223 vs. expensive & hard to find 25-35?  Gunsmithing costs (including new extractor) will pay for another repro ’85 in a different caliber.

I got it out and warmed it up on prairie dogs at 100 yards…
