Any comments on this gun? We know the seller is suspect. The buffalo on the right side plate looks cartoonish to me?

That is the rare one-of-a-kind 1 of 1000 where the engraver’s nine-year-old daughter sketched out the Bison to help him. Thus, the $100.000 price tag.
“No Reserve!” That’s a generous gesture on the seller’s part. Makes a fellow wish he could hit a “Buy It Now” button.
This is one of the sellers whose auctions I don’t bother to look at. And those lengthy “descriptions”–never read them anymore. I have enough excrement coming out of my backside; I prefer to not load, through my head, this fellow’s pure grade.

The barrel is not a 1 of 1000 barrel. it does not have the platinum inlays. Like Callaway said the One of One Thousand on the barrel is poorly done.

One of the better Fakes I’ve seen lately. The serial is way to high to even consider it being real. I do wonder if someone took a very nice engraved and plated 73 and just merely had to barrel engraved. Or if all the engraving is fake. It certainly looks more than just $10 worth of engraving do on it. I wonder how much was added or if they just try matching the serial number to a ledger entry that might make sense.
Adding this one to my faked serial list for sure.
Sincerely,
Maverick

Does SDOG think we wouldn’t remember that gun from a couple months ago on GB?? Now its double the price. I guess it’s probably fair since it was in a “prestigious collection” for a short time. Was kinda expecting it to be crated with some hang tags though.

In answer to your question, No, he does not. Based on my limited exposure to him, he assumes that “We” are all bumbling ignorant morons (BIMs), and that he is much smarter than we are.

Thanks to Casey I have the serial number now and checked some old records I have and it was in a Rock Island auction in December of 03 but I don’t have any catalogs that old.

Bob,
Did it sell at the RIA 03 auction as a 1 of 1000?

Maverick,
Gordon had it in his original survey and in the notes it said “1000?” so he didn’t believe it was real and that was 1997. The other thing I noticed is there is no muzzle engraving which a 1 of 1000 has.
