The 94s with factory installed Lyman Model 21 receiver sights will have tapped holes on the left side of the receiver.
Do you have any pictures of the tapped holes your concerned about? My suspicion is that if you have to ask about them, then my hunch is they’re something a miss.
Sincerely,
Maverick

If your gun was made in 1896, it should letter. If that letter does not describe a sight with that pattern of holes it’s probably non factory work. As nice as the gun looks if it was factory work blue would be in the threads of the hole.
I have owned a few really nice guns with extra holes, they looked good displayed with the good side out. If I wasn’t a purist collector I would still own them. T/R

Don’t misunderstand, this post is not necessarily about the gun pictured. Just looking for anyone who has or has seen a 94 with extra holes verified factory drilled. Thanks.
Receiver sights or scope mounts mounted on the right side are highly unusual, but as Maverick pointed out, a ’94 could be special ordered with a Lyman 21, & at some point after WW II, the factory began to D&T for Lyman rcvr. sights, but only on the LEFT side.

I assume “verified factory” means a letter. So we are talking about guns in a letter-able range that mention a sight that requires drilling holes in the right side of a receiver. Good question for the Forum, but only if the gun has a letter that mentions such a sight. T/R
