Just wondering who’s all into these critters ?
I’ve been at it for close to 45 years. Don’t see many nib up here in Canada so it’s pretty much all used guns.
I have all the different cals in both rifles and carbines plus I even had a 100 built into a 358 to match the 88.
I have more than one of them all minus the 100 carbine in 243 so still looking to add another one to the family.
For the life of me I can’t figure out how to post a picture or short video of my collection so any help would be great Thank you !
Hi 88 man! Congrats upon what sounds like a great collection and likely adding you as a Model 88 Authority! Can’t say I’m really “into” Win Models 88 & certainly not as you! I have several that I enjoy. All in .308 Win because such chambering most common & ‘presenting’ themselves; a syndrome. A category of “fatal attraction occurring as time, price-point, empty handed @ gunshow closing time! “The “syndrome”… Another genre pretty face happening. Carbines particularly a “fem fatale”.
Objectively the “88”, as novel combo of modern design, high pressure chamberings set to “Win lever” functionality. Nifty creatures of their era! A small, side-note, personal pity never occurring in 7mm 08 Rem! Never to meld in the “classic aura” of Winchester levers, but standing quite well on their own, if “also-ran”; ‘thank you very much’! 🙂
Passing for this moment as volunteer navigator through Forum “photoland” much less “videos”. Many other truly capable folks! But leaky “lifeboat commander” if pressed!
Thanks for bringing your potential bevvy of “88 Models”.
Awaiting! Happy New Year!
John
Hey 88 man – Now I get your username.
That’s quite the collection in the photo.
We talked on CGN the other day about the 490 Manual (I found one) and parts, etc.
Anyway, I’ll touch base with you about the as/new 490 I got, and I’m interested in acquiring a Top Condition Model 100 in .308
Also, if you’re in Ont. do you ever get to the Woodstock or Orangeville show ?
Regards. Dave (djm on CGN)
