First off… Steve… If you’re going to sell any of yours please let me know where and when so I can get in line…
Second… An interesting thing (to me) is that as far as I recall reading, part of the reason the Marksman stock had that annoying high comb was to allow for it to be reshaped by the individual shooter. You certainly see that here in the way the comb has been altered.
Ever try to line up the metallic sights on one of those first year M70 targets that had the ramp and a Lyman 48WJS (not 48WH?) I’d have to remove my right cheek bone for that to work… I suspect the shooter who owned the rifle this stock belonged to had the same issue (a more or less normal face!!!)
The early ones were impossible to shoot as built (IMHO):
