While looking at descriptions of some Model 1886’s I come across comments like,” second coat lacquer lines are still visible on the belly of the receiver”. What does that mean? What lacquer?

I believe it’s the coating 1886s have applied at the factory to protect the color case hardening. 

The current James Julia auction 1886 offerings really have some nice CCH.
