Can anyone confirm or dispute the numbers by Madis being presented in the description on this one.
First thing I would do is contact John Madl for the production statistics.
I don’t like the fact that it has a “rifle” butt stock & plate on it. True Muskets were usually equipped with a Musket/Carbine style butt stock & plate.

I tried to buy that musket from Joe a while back, He’s not very flexible on the price. I don’t doubt the gun is real, however it is one of those that would always need an explanation. To bad about the lack of factory info on it.

Good observation Bert!!
For me, one of the appealing and cool features of a musket is the musket/carbine style buttstock. Even if the rifle style buttstock is original to the gun, it sort of spoils it for me. And Henry is right, with no ledger information, an explanation will be needed. But how much are explanations worth? Even were I an expert on these, and I was quite satisfied of the authenticity, when it comes to sell, I could say something to the effect, “I know a lot about these and I can assure you this is original.” Unless caveat emptor goes out of style, it would be an uphill climb.
