Winchester1886 I almost forgot you sorry If you will get Bob’s book and read his chapter on the Model 64 you will find out that according to Bob Bert has left out TWO calibers in his survey?
If you don’t have a copy I will be happy to provide with the other 2
calibers offered or cataloged

I am fully aware of the 32-40 and 38-55 calibers. However, when combined they comprise just .0091% of the total that I have surveyed to this point. As such, they represent an insignificant total production. Additionally, both of those calibers were discontinued as of January 1938, and that was very early in the Model 64 production run.

Quantrez,

Your statement about Bert being instrumental I writing the book is slightly inaccurate – his research began after the first (and second) edition. He HAS however, been a good friend and willing to share much valuable information throughout the years and I thank him profusely for that. Just today I added a note in my working copy about an item regarding a marking that Bert uncovered and that I had overlooked – it’s not going to make anyone rich with a new "rare" variation, but his input is very valuable.

He is well aware of the "mystery" calibers of the Model 64.

If you look at his numbers on the 64 and add the 2% for those mystery calibers – his figures and my estimate are not very far off.

Yes, existing information is better than none – it can be easily upgraded. It is also only a guide and would have no financial detriment due to the overall result of the numbers. If inaccuracy was a case for not making a statement there would never be a reference book published. Some of you guys get into areas so ridiculous that they are the kinds of crap that have made me drop out of things like Corvette clubs etc. When you can spend figures into the high 5s -then you can start to get picky – I don’t have that worry. Just sayin’

My publisher has nixed my efforts to write a new edition – not enough new material, (20%) minimum, and even when I said I would provide zillions of photos with captions, they said that captions and photos do not count in the 20% figure – they have the final say financially. After the untold millions I have made on the book so far, who am I to argue.

My latest endeavor, is to put out privately, a CD, listing by page number, and caption (if in a photo), any upgrades that are pertinent. Also will be many additional photos and captioning to illustrate interesting anomalies. It will be inexpensive and a good supplement. My geek Brother-in-law will help and I hope to make it so the user can add items that may later be relevant.

I’m getting bleary eyed so I’ll sign off now

BOBR94
Put me on your waiting list for the CD that you are working on. I look forward to getting new or updated information on the 1894.

Still in the gathering/planning stage but I will announce it’s completion on the forum first before attempting any formal distribution.
Thanks for the support,
