Should be interesting. Didn’t realize I had a “Texas Special”. Mine is quite a bit plainer and rougher but that adds to the charm, right?

Seems anyone who has one of these would want a copy of that article to keep with the rifle.

I didn’t know “Texas Special” was a “thing”. I suspect more of a auction sales gimmick than anything else. I have a 95 short rifle with a 20″ barrel coming from AZ next week. I think they were referred to as “Arizona Specials” back in the day…Right?Laugh

Well, it is literally true… in that, it exists in writing  Wink

By the way, that ’95 short rifle sounds intriguing.  More so as it is an Arizona Special.  Cool

.30/40 I assume?

.35 and a pretty cool gun, I think 1911 production. I’ll post some pics when I get it.

Yes, my 20″ short rifles are now officially “Wyoming Specials”. Although my 20″ examples are not deluxe so that’s a nice little rifle but very late.

I believe, to be politically correct, those are now classified as “Plus Size” Short Rifles.  Laugh  RDB

I’ll look forward to the photos.  A .35 WCF 20 inch short rifle – that would make a great bookend paired with Mark Douglas’s 36 inch .35 WCF. Cool

Steve 004, don’t you see the irony.  In Texas where everything is supposed to be bigger, they called the short rifle “THE TEXAS SPECIAL”.  Laugh  I’m sorry, for some reason that just hit comical nerve.  I sometimes have a strange sense of humor.  RDB

I suppose the 22″ would be “Fairly Common Wyoming Specials” and the 24″ would be “Just Slightly Less Common Wyoming Specials”.

So…my half octagon, would be known as a Louisiana Special because we’re almost in TX?  Maybe not but it is one of the scarce Left Hand versions too.

Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

It would be.  If you wrote an article on it.  And had it published.

I can’t find it, and I’m wondering if the phrase “Texas Special” is made up phrasing, as there is not article titled with that name that I can find.

Sincerely,

Maverick
