OfflineI live in Western Oregon and hunted here most of my life. The thick forests are to be avoided for hunting. There may be animals in there, but you will not see them. There are long range shots available because there is extensive logging everywhere. What it comes down to is the type of hunting you will do, and the range required. If you take a stand your shot may still need to come quick. It’s extremely hard to sneak around as your going to be moving everything away from you. With hunters everywhere they may run something in front of you while moving, but your better chance is getting to a pre-determined location before daybreak, and being still. It’s safer too because bubba just saw a buck you spooked and now he see something moving in the brush, and it could be you.

OfflineNot to hijack the post, but since Leupold 4x scopes were mentioned if anyone is looking I have a couple vintage Leupold gloss M8 4x’s scopes I can list in the Classifieds. All are very nice scopes with (1972) pre-letter prefix serial numbers. Very clean, clear glass, I collected and if the price was right bought every nice gloss Leupold I came across for the last 40 years
