Anyone have experience with these rifles? I’m trying to find info for a friend who recently inherited one. It looks unfired, stock is gorgeous. Metal looks unscathed. Should be a good shooter, sounds like guys used to shoot these at 800-1000 yards with iron sights! Wondering what they’d be worth today. Serial number puts it at 1966-1967 for production.
Hi J,
Additional information and some good photos would help with identification. The Winchester Palma Rifles were made for the 1968, 1971 & 1976 competitions. A very late 1967 serial number could be a Palma Rifle. Any earlier would not. Does it have an inscription on the right side of the barrel identifying it as a Palma Match rifle? Member Bill Grant wrote up a nice article on these for ”The Winchester Collector” magazine. See Spring of 2020 edition on the association website under publications.
There are a few members who are knowledgeable on the Palma Rifles.
Regards,
Ned
