I love this combination of features – and particularly enjoy how it letters.  I think it is very cool that it has a carbine butt.

Steve

I was watching that one too. Call it a half & half ….. rifle in the front, carbine in the rear. A Winchester mullet that I wish had more condition but a great little gun.

Yes, I found the condition is lacking.  However if you like character, this piece clearly has it – I’d love to listen to the stories it has to tell.  The bore leaves much to be desired as well (I like, “character” bore much less). I was attracted as it would be a great companion piece to a M1894 Marlin short rifle/carbine I have.  It is a .25-20 with 20 inch half round barrel, full magazine, takedown with sling ring and carbine butt.  So, like this M1873, it’s another, “half & half” with rifle in the front and carbine in the rear.  I used to have the same thing in a Marlin M1893 in .25-36.
