Interesting video with Kirsten Joy Weiss (competition/trick shooter and 2A advocate) shooting an “original” 1886 in .45-70. Curious what y’all think of the originality of this firearm. Sure is gorgeous. The rifle ain’t too bad either. Wink

After skipping through the first 3 minutes I can tell the knowledge of the gun is almost nonexistent.   The exploded drawing shows 1873 parts in the gun?  The wood is a poor fit and cracked.  I am not going to waste any more time.

THIS ALL STARTED WITH JUST ONE GUN!

Refinished. Nice refinish though. Early gun, sub 20,000 serial, set trigger too. Looks good. Many factual discrepancies in the video, but at least an old Winchester got some exposure.

I was excited to hear that John Browning put his hands on every rifle Winchester made. Glad that he personally tooled and fiddled with my 1886’s Confused.

But I do agree with Austin that its always good to see the originals showcased.

Yea. My feelings too. Lots of fake news on the YouTube but fun to see in action.

Plus who doesn’t like a good Zeppelin story, true or not! Lol.

There is the possibility that this 1886 is browning bros. marked – in that case being a gun retailed out of JM Browning’s store, it could have been handled by him personally

I didn’t know Turnbull has a brother named John Moses Browning.

The video, especially the “intro” is stupidity at its worst.  And then all the nonsense about the rifle and Browning only goes down hill.  Sorry but it’s garbage.  But I only could stand it up to the point where she starts talking about fiddling with every part and not being factory made.  What trash.
