Interesting – thanks for the info – that would have been cool to have consecutive serial number 92’s – something I have never owned. I don’t buy guns anymore and so I do not pay much attention to what is for sale unless I am selling one and then I will look to see approximately what mine is worth. I actually like the configuration of that one better than mine. I have never been sure how much desirability there is in consecutive serial number guns. For some time now, Model 55, serial #4 has been for sale. Although it is lacking the condition I like, I have seriously considered making an offer on it because I have serial number 5.Burt – that is very intriguing. What configuration is M55 serial number 4? I can very much understand the appeal of how a consecutive numbered pair of 55’s. And such low numbers too. By the way, your M55 is stunning

Here’s serial number 4. I agree number 4 and 5 would sure look good together.

For what it is worth, S/N 3 is also a “Fancy” rifle. I do not have any information for serial numbers 1 & 2, but I very much suspect that they too were built a “Fancy” rifles. Of the 1,367 Model 55 rifles I have surveyed thus far, (56) of them are “Fancy” (special ordered) rifles, and (5) of them are factory engraved.

So… a guy could potentially have #’s 3, 4 and 5 in his collection As you often say, Bert, “all it takes is money.”
