Hi.  I bought this old Carbine a few days ago.  All clean and original, but definitely not mint.  The interesting part is the inscription on the L. H.

       Side Plate.   It has                M.L.T.H

                                                  18 91

J  Glassford              with a few scroll marks between and around date..

Markings have on the carbine forever, or longer.

Has any one one any idea what the ‘ M.L.T.H ‘  stands for,  And does it look like Winchester engraving ?

                       Thanks,   Eric1891-glassford.jpgImage Enlarger

Eric,

First thing to do is get a letter on the gun to see if the inscription was factory. I do not know what MLTH stand for. I do have many 73’s in my survey with inscriptions, what is the serial number?

Bob.    This is just a standard Carbine,  Serial No. 306939 With a B.   44 WCF.   NO other extra markings.

                   Thanks,   Eric

It does look period engraved. Would love to see what a Cody letters holds for it.
