Hello everyone,
Seems its raining pre-64’s at the LGS this week. After a drought for years without finding any decent pre-64 m94’s for sale, I’ve bought three this year from this one LGS.
Anywho, I picked two war era 94’s for a little under $700 apiece.
The first one is nothing special as far as I can tell, a nice 1949 carbine with a good bore, some honest wear, but good wood and finish still. Nothing particularly unique but a nice example. This one is very smooth, very easy operating lever, when the bolt slides over the hammer to cock it, there is hardly any extra resistance. Very nice working gun. Its a little dirty but once I clean it up I think it will present very well. How original do you think this gun is? I have a ’62 that came to me in varnish, so I don’t know if this oil finish is correct.
Hello Victor,
The partial serial number (16586xx) identifies it as a January or February 1950 production Model 94 Carbine. With the exception of the butt plate, the gun is in reasonably decent condition. The butt plate is in dire need of a deep cleaning and rust removal. The $700 price tag as appropriate for a post-WW II Model 94 30 WCF Carbine.
