I have two SRC carbines. One a 25-35 and the other a 38-55. 1908 and 1927 .Both have Gumwood stocks, both are about 95%++, and both were very expensive. I doubt the Gumwood figured in to the price paid. Big Larry

Such woods as maple & beech are much superior to gumwood, but even if stained properly, wouldn’t easily pass for walnut, which gumwood can to the average customer, at least when new. Not good to have customers asking, “what kind of wood is that,” even if it’s a wood as durable as walnut, & actually, maple & beech are more durable, & have the advantage of needing no grain filling, but they look different. Gumwood didn’t rock the boat.
