There about a half dozen things I see.

Serial number style, lower tang finish, wrong lever, lever latch, replaced dust cover and forearm checkering.

They do not use the word “original” in the description of the blue or case colors, always a red flag. Blued screws in the receiver. Blued dust cover. The shape of the custom lever latch. I see what looks like weld pits in the lever latch, lever, and lower tang. I don’t understand the serial number, is it 14700 or 4700, much less the style. That said the real problem is the price estimate. T/R
Gobbler,
They used a 2nd/3rd model lever and ground off the forward lug that is used for the trigger block safety. The problem with a later lever used on a first model is the lug that engages the thumb screw does not go back far enough so they welded up the thumb screw to make it work rather than add the metal to the lever. The dead giveaway is the shape of the finger loop. First model levers have a nice inside radius on the front and backs ends where a later lever has a more flattened or rectangular shape and the lug on the back goes back a bit farther and has a different profile.

The very first thing that jumped out to me was the serial number being “freshly cut” and also not being sure what the number is actually supposed to be. Then the next thing was the lever & latch. Somebody ground down a later lever and tried passing it as 1st model lever. Then they just made up a lever latch. Then looking at the finish on the lever, makes me jump to the finish on the receiver. Now I didn’t pay to much to the checkering itself, but agree with Bob. I noticed the fit looked off. Then everything else lined up. The gun has been reworked quite a bit. I wonder how “original” the cleaning rod is as well?

Thank you
Did we save you some money from not bidding on that lot?
