Hello!
I’m hoping somebody might help me: I have a Model 1895 in .30-40, built in 1907. It is the rifle, not the carbine nor the musket. It is all original and in fine shape~~the only problem is the sights were calibrated for the ammo of the time (220gr?) hence, its point of impact at the lowest rear sight setting when shooting modern .30-40 ammo is about 12″ high. The beaded front sight blade is about .35″ (?) tall, and I understand there was a .50″ blade available at some time in the past. Would anyone know of where I might be able to find such a blade~~if they truly do exist! Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
Thank you! – Mark
ps) I recently switched to a Providence Tool Co. reproduction of the Lyman #21 which, at its lowest setting, is a tad lower than the original ramp rear sight, but even with this I am still shooting high (as stated above).
