What do Billy the Kid and this fellow have in common?
A “What were they thinking!” moment. How could they not notice?
“Once the U.S. Repeating Arms plant closes March 31, the only new rifles carrying the famous Winchester name will be the modern, high-end models produced in Belgium, Japan and Portugal. The older models, including the .44 rifle seen in this 1955 photo, will be scrapped.”
There is a myth that Billy the Kid was left-handed but it is not true. He was primarily right handed and ambidextrous if that is what you are referring to.
I don’t think I would be able to shoot like the kid above with my hand outside the lever either……
Looks like the photo is reversed.

“Billy the Kid” his “Rifle” is a 1st Model 1873 “CARBINE” and its in the billy the kid musuem. So billy was alive and well when he purchased it.

Tin Type photography is an acid etched reversed image on metal.
The photo of the boy holding the 92 is probably also a negative reverse.
The boy is merely holding the 92 rifle, and it is not cocked ready to fire. So he couldn’t actually be sighting a target, the hammer would be in the way.
Sincerely,
Maverick
