Not usually hard to find, but in high condition, a little tough. Got this on Gun Broker for $2,500 when no one was bidding. The seller had no clue about the rifle as he had picked it up for painting someone’s house. $2,500 was a stupid bid for this 700,000 numbered high condition M1892 in 44-40.
He told me the bore was worn out. These rifles had very shallow grooves and I guess he scared the other bidders away.
Have yet to shoot it, but it is probably as accurate as my other M1892’s. Big Larry

Nice score, Big Larry. Good eye.

It is a smokeless powder rifle from 1913. It has proof marks on the bbl. and receiver. One of my pride and joys. I got a great deal on it. Saw one at a Reno Show, not quite as nice, and the asking price was $4.500. Nice M1892’s are out of most folks price range. Mine too. Big Larry

Beautiful looking rifle. Is that black powder only or can you use smokeless?
Really no such thing as “black powder only,” except maybe in a Brown Bess. With smokeless, you tailor powder & load to the gun, for which there’s much data in loading manuals. As for factory loads, they’re all adjusted to be safe in antique BP guns, unless noted otherwise.
