I have a M64 made in 1954, 30-30 wcf. It appears the Lyman peep sight was added at the factory. Overall, the rifle is about 80% with the only visible wear is on the blued receiver where the rifle was carried. It’s all there, 100% original as I can tell. Am I correct in saying the Lyman peep was factory add on? And, what is approximate value of this? Thanks in advance.
Michael,
Where on the rifle is the Lyman peep sight mounted? Which type is it (e.g. No. 56W, No. 66A, No. 21, No. 38, No. 1A, or No. 2A). Can you provide clear pictures of the rifle and the Lyman peep sight?
The serial number will tell us when exactly the rifle was manufactured, and which Lyman sight it could have been ordered with.

Thanks for the prompt reply Bert. The Lyman 66A is mounted on the metal receiver, the hood from the front side has been removed, and a metal piece was placed in the groove for the original factory rear sight. I’ll add some photos shortly.
You can also send the pictures directly to me.

Received. Your Model 64 is a standard rifle (manufactured very early in the year 1954), and the Lyman No. 66A appears to be factory installed. That stated, I would like to see a clear picture showing the top of the barrel from the dovetail slot filler back to the receiver frame ring.
