The purpose of this survey is to narrow down when Winchester went from CC on the hammers and levers to just blue. If you have a Winchester rifle or carbine that falls between s/n 535,000 and 800,000, 1912 through 1915 and would supply the s/n ( just the first 3 digits if you don’t want to give out the whole s/n ) and whether the hammer and lever are CC or blued it would be of great help.
Answer by email or PM
Thanks

Paul

[color=red:3ec30f6685]Edit on 8-10-2013—changed the s/n range___ now it is 535,000 to 800,000.[/color:3ec30f6685]

This seems to be when the change took place

Paul,

See my reply to mrcvs regarding the 1886 rifles. A great way to get a ton of data!

This is just to give a quick review of the data collected so far. The data shown is from s/n 535451 = 1912 to s/n 792252 = 1915. I have data to s/n 881755 = 1918 but nothing has changed so just showing a narrower range where there was a change. I will continue to record guns as I come across them.

I’m just on my way to work Paul – which I seem to do too much of these days – but I will try to take a look at my 94s over the weekend and get you some info.

Paul,
Sent you info on all my 1894s. Check your PMs. A few of them are out of your serial number range, my apologies, I went back and read you were looking for ones on a certain range, you got them all:)

Shorties
From your chart, it seems that you pretty much already have it narrowed down – as narrow as a normal "overlap" period will allow anyway.
Fun to research isn’t it.
Just don’t fall into the "this is when it occurred" trap – you’ll never get it right.
