Does it look original, or a replacement? The fit looks good, but it doesn’t look like walnut to me. It has a little birds-eye pattern to it. Maybe maple? If it’s original, it seems quite unusual and priced rather low. Interested to see what the experts think.

I think its a birds eye maple that has been stained.

All 73’s letter but I don’t think it will. If it did he would of said because it escalates the price quite a bit. I also see the buttplate and forearm cap is blued which it should be cased.

I blew the photo up so my old eyes could see it, and now agree with Bob. Birds-eye maple that’s been stained. Natural birds-eye is much lighter. Looks like a good fit, and metal looks good, too. Can this rifle be lettered?
Birds-eye Maple that has been stained would be my 99.9% guess on that wood. Natural birds-eye maple has a light yellowish color to it. No where near what black walnut looks like. Very rarely were winchesters made to order with stocks other than black walnut. And if they were made with maple stocks, they should letter as such.
Sincerely,
Maverick
