For those who may have copies or reprints of Winchester catalogues from the 1920’s and 1930’s, I would very much appreciate info to answer the following questions:
[list:881d14a427]1. Is the Model 53 listed in the 1924 catalogue and, if so, what are the prices?
2. Hard to believe, but the Model 53 was listed in the August 1934 Winchester catalogue. Was it listed in any 1935 Winchester catalogue?[/list:u]

Thank you to anyone who can help me out with this Model 53 research.

Kirk,

In looking through my records, there was not a 1924 Winchester catalog. The first catalog that listed the Model 53 was 1925.

Thanks, Bert. That does raise a question … Winchester had serialized 2458 Model 53 receivers by the end of 1924. Do you think they were building inventory before the 1925 catalogue came out? Or was there another way to let retailers know about the new rifle before the 1925 catalogue came out?

I do not believe that Winchester was building inventory. More than likely, Winchester sent out bulletins with new information between the scheduled catalog publishing dates.
