Best, I’m resurrecting this thread in hopes that you are still amassing statistics on Model 65 .218 Bees. My wife recently purchased #1004129 from the widow of a good friend. It’s in excellent condition with a period correct Weaver 330 scope.
I am indeed still surveying them. Does this rifle still have its No. 98C bolt peep sight? If you can, please send pictures of this rifle to me at [email protected]
Are you a former Submariner? I did 21-years in the Navy on Boomers.

Here is a model 65 in 218 Bee – serial # is 1004437. I used to call the gun a “deluxe” because it has upgraded and checkered walnut in H style and factory sling eyes/swivels – I believe the bolt peep was standard on the Bee’s. In a conversation with Bert a few years ago he indicated Winchester actually made (was in their catalog) a deluxe version of the Model 65 and it had a “capped” pistol grip which this gun does not have. Accordingly, I now refer to this gun as a “special order” Model 65 – either way it is a high condition and rare gun that I am glad to have. Many years ago I owned one of those Model 92’s in 218 Bee – thought I had a rare one and it took a few years for me to realize it had a replacement barrel – live and learn!

Good afternoon….I am resurrecting this thread, because I have a Winchester 1892, s/n 408503 with a .218 Bee barrel. I understand from what I read, this means that the barrel is not the factory original. I intend to list this item for sale at GunBroker, but I would like to better understand how it should be described.
Bert, if you would kindly email me? I would like to share pictures of this item and see what you might be able to tell me?
Thank you.
