Hello to all of you 1895 experts. This is for sale on GB…Capt. Jack says all original for sure. If Capt. Jack would listen to you, what would you tell him?

I’m no 95 expert but that butt plate does not fit the stock and it has fit problems at the receiver. I would say the wood is not original. I also concur that the elk look original.

Completely restocked (and poorly done at that).

I too agree that the Elk are original.

Yeah about the most original thing in that listing are the Elk!

I also love how the serial number just happen to be in the range which the records were destroyed by a fire!

That same fire must of burnt off the stocks on the gun as well, especially the forearm, and thats why it was replaced with a naturally carved by a beaver piece of wood!

Amazed!

Blue doesn’t look right to me. Too uniform and not the right color or shine. Funky stock on mint metal? I don’t think so.

I’m throwing down the BS card. I’m not even going to be polite on this one. It is reblued, and has bogus replacement wood. I’m sure replaced when the gun was poorly reblued. Having owed several real 95’s in high condition, I get tired of these guys passing off second rate junk as real for numbers like 7K, while great guns sit around because the new collectors are chicken to pony up having been burnt by every local yokel gun store with a $500 trade in rifle that they now want 7K for. It’s a junk gun, unless you just want a shooter. Period. Now that is my .02 worth. —I feel better already. TONY

But, do you agree the elk are real?

Oh I see know! ……… The 6 head of Elk are included in the auction for about $1100 a head and the rest must be for the boat anchor pictured above them.

Other than peter cottontail, its some of the best tasting meat in the woods!

Maybe he is selling a $7000 Elk hunt and he will throw in the gun for free. What you think? Wink

In fact someone should call him and ask what the hotel arrangements are like and how hard is the Elk hunting this time of year.

Well so are practically are all the ones they shoot on the Outdoor channel, being tucked inside a High Game fence.

They are some ranches not to far from me that got every kind of Elk or "Stag" you can think of, and they charge all kinds of big money to shoot them. There used to be a guy that had some Elk all the way down by Venice, La, but I think Hurricane Gustav finally snatched all them up.

One interesting Tidd Bit that has always intrigued me. Before the 1700s, or right around when the French settled Louisiana (or any other white man for that matter), Wild Elk used to range throughout it. Hard to think of Elk ranging in Louisiana now these days, but there are talks of reintroducing them here.

Sincerely,
Maverick

If you think the starting price was a little off last time, you should see what he did this time. He emailed me and said he had repriced it/relisted it after receeiving his copy of the Redbook. This is one smart hombre.
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=330018447

He did say in an email…"I’m going to remove the forearm, and post pictures of the inletting. As I said, it is inletted for both the earlier leaf magazine spring and the later guns with coil springs."

Does anyone know what he is refering to here???

He is located in Coos Bay, Oregon. Lots of wild Roosevelt elk thereabouts. You can take such photos from the car window driving on US 101.

He sunk his treasure ship with the pictures of the forend stock… Winchester did not varnish the inside barrel channel of the forend stocks. The stock is absolutely made up and incorrectly finished.
