I tried shooting factory jacketed 30-30 and WOW, it was like 1/2″ group at 25 yd up from………………12″ group?
So now Im going to try reloading lead+gas checked near factory velocities and see how that goes, at least I know its not the rifle.
The rounds i tried were lower velocity lead rounds (reloads someone made) so maybe they were just not meant for the gun. I dont know whether it was the lead, or the low velocities however.

A strong word of advise: Do not use someone else’s reloads unless you are 100% positive you know exactly what is in them and that they are compatible with your gun. Watch the below video created by fellow WACA member Mark Douglas. It makes me want to cry every time I watch it.

Awesome, thank you. I definitely am VERY careful about other peoples reloads, I’m not a cowboy. The only reason I used them is because theyre a reloader for a lot of SASS shooters and were lower velocity. With that said… I found one bullet which was canted which made me question their QC and I stopped using them. I just had a bag of 50 and figured risk was low to shoot those. Thanks for the video ill check it out
PS that quality control issue was what got me into reloading a few months ago, because I didnt trust anyone else. I just dont have supplies yet for 30-30
