I’m brand new to the forum and want to post some information on my first Winchester. The rifle was produced in 1908, with a verified serial number. The caliber is 32 WS. It has a plugged loading tube for four cartridges. The barrel is a combination of hexagon and round. I admit to never seeing that configuration. The wood is very good and original, the action is smooth. The barrel appears to be very good. I ran a patch with bore cleaner through it and the patch came out clean. The receiver is clean but shows signs of usage, no surprise. Overall it is used but was well taken care of.

Hello Dave,
What is the serial number on your Model 1894 Sporting Rifle? The barrel is actually a “half-octagon”, and it sounds like your rifle may have a 1/2 magazine. Please post (or send me) pictures of this rifle.

I forgot to add it has factory installed sling swizzles.
Dave,
Your Model 1894 has an aftermarket (Uncle Mike’s) sling stud attached to the forend nose cap… it positively is not factory original.
Based on what I am seeing in the single picture you posted, the barrel on your Model 1894 was originally full length octagon… somebody machined it after the fact to make it appear like a factory 1/2 octagon barrel.
