What are the correct barrel markings for an 1892 carbine? When did Winchester move the model number from the tang to the barrel?

To answer your first question, the serial number is needed.  Barrel markings changed on a semi frequent basis throughout the production run.  Michael can pin down the specific style for the factory markings with the serial number.
