SO as the gun universe speaks to me daily, I got a tip on something I have been looking for. The issue of course is an “all or none” type of deal so I had to take the lot. There were 5 Wins in the deal, all redone. I did not pay much for them as I pointed out all the faults but I kept my eye on my prize as I made my bid. Long story short, I have an 1876 here from 1882. I know ZERO about the 1876 models. All markings look correct and I think the rear sight is correct but you guys can tell me. I will play with it as I can form 45-75 from my .348s. It is 28″ round barrel. Not sure who or when did this work but thought I would post it here.
I am into it for $250 and figured for that it would be a good shooter. I will get a few more pics in a bit.
For $250 you did good as long as its a Winchester and if its a real 76 you did real good.

I stored some rifles for a friend of mine several years ago. One was a 76 in 45-75 with an octagon barrel. He left me with some ammo also. It’s in nice condition with the exception of some freckling on one side. Yeah, I shot it. Pretty cool. Also had a semi deluxe 94 that had belonged to his deceased brother. I shot it too. I’d bet neither had been fired since the 1970’s. I’m hoping I can end up with both of them someday. I haven’t bugged him about them in a while. Maybe I should have a chat with him about them.
Shoot low boys. They're riding Shetland Ponies.
From what I see is the gun has been refinished and engraved at that time. The barrel caliber mark is not original so it could of been buffed and had to be remarked, rechambered and remarked or its a aftermarket barrel. Is there a barrel address on the barrel?

I know the gun has been refinished and engraved at that time…seems like an okay job to me but it is not my thing. I just figured as a shooter it might be a hoot to play with. Do you think the sight is legit?
Yes, I thought the markings for caliber were a bit off. There is an address on the barrel
Top line is; WINCHESTER’S REPEATING ARMS NEW HAVEN CT
Bottom line is: KING’S IMPROVEMENT PATENTED MARCH 23, 1866, OCTOBER 16, 1880
Rear barrel sight is correct.

Just plan on shooting it a bunch next spring. I sent all the others to Tulsa this weekend and half sold yesterday to other dealers looking for shooter grade refins…nice to see folks still wanting to shoot levers.
Once I get it cleaned up a bit I will post more pics and eventually some range results!
