Your serial number is missing a digit, the serial number 19781 is a first model and the B suffix is from a third model gun.

the 3-leaf sight does match the barrel finish but on the Cody cert there is no mention. the SN is 19781B
If the 3 leaf is in good shape I wouldn’t complain. It may be worth more than the standard sight it should have? When no sight is mentioned on the Factory letter it means it came with the standard sight. Usually wrong sights don’t bother me. Finding a correct one is part of the fun of collecting. What’s tuff is finding a special order sight that is missing.
Thanks Chile, Its in the survey now. I never ran across a 73 with a 3 leaf express that lettered.

Trying to find value and history of an 1873 in 44WCF, 20″ octagon barreled, has what I understand to be a Rifle forend with end cap, not Carbine barrel band. Full-length mag tube, don’t know about trigger as to whether single set or “regular”. This particular mix of options does not show up in the Blue Book, which is understandable but frustrating.
Serial #679XXXB. Winchester Collector serial lookup says 1910 mfg, which tracks with a post reply (page 2?) from a guy that mentioned Border Guns that have this configuration and date/serial # range. I also read that it would be 3rd Model with the “B” suffix?
Is in rough shape, 10-15 years ago probably would’ve been nice, but cat piss and bad (terrible) storage takes no prisoners. Is a wonderful rifle, was able to get action loose easily, pains me to think what if would look like had it been cared for at all.
Don’t know if it would help Bob(?) to add to his ledger. Can hit me back on email.
Ironhorse,
If you can send me the full serial number and pictures of the gun to my below email address. Also what is the forearm length?
