Haven’t seen an 1873 this early before. Thought it was interesting that the model designation is located on the lower tang instead of the top tang.
When you get to below 350 they had the lower tang model destination which bring the price up just like the raised thumb print and reverse rear sight.

In 08 serial 13 sold for $150k but it was in 70-80% condition, In 2017 Carbine serial 194 in a similar condition to serial 19 sold for $20,700. Now there is a quite a difference from serial 194 to 19 and not many of these low serial numbers sell to often to figure a value so it will depend on who is looking for one.

Chris,
The engraving is old and was probably engraved by a period engraver of the day.
The description in the auction says the stock is 1/4″ longer but actually the ledger just says “Long”, it gives no length. There are several like that in that range, serial 12 to 21.

Serial No. 3 is shown on pages 16 & 17 of Robert M. Lee & R.L. Wilson’s book, “The Art of the Gun Volume IV Winchester Firearms Masterpieces Selections from the Robert M. Lee Collections”
It is supposedly engraved by L.D. Nimschke, gold and silver plated.
The book was written in 2002. I have no idea if it has been sold since. But would imagine it would fetch a chunk of change.
Sincerely,
Maverick
