Maybe others with a 25 caliber Mod 53 will check their rifles!
Yes indeed… I would like to see photos of a few more Take Down Model 53 rifles in .25 caliber.
I cannot post pictures but would be glad to send pictures of mine S/N 7049
Please send the pictures to my email – [email protected]

At long last, finally a reply. My 25-20 Model 53 is a late one. Serial #995387. 25-20 T/D “STAINLESS STEEL” barrel. It also lacks the slot allowing for accurate “DATE” identification. RDB
Roger,
Can you post pictures (or send them to me)?
Based on the serial number, it is a 1930 production rifle.

OfflineRoger,
Very Nice! Thanks for posting the pictures.
If you do not mind, I would like to see a picture of the barrel assembly removed from the receiver frame and the forend stock removed.
The bottom of the barrel should have “ST” and the caliber stamped on it.

OfflineHope these will do. The “DATE” stamp under the magazine ring is not photographable and almost unviewable! It appears to be a “30”! Impossible? It is very difficult to make out. Rotate one way it looks likr “28” or “25” then turn a little and it’s “30”. I am 82 and use readers, this is most likely the problem! RDB
