Hello Bert,
I was at my old friends house today. The one I messaged you about that I got the Model 1885 hi-wall from last week.
He has a very nice model 55 in 30 WCF, metal but plate, bbl sights, #1039646. I do not know much about the lever guns so I am not sure if it is a take down or not.

Hello Ed,
It is a Take Down as it was manufactured in late January 1929.
Thanks for the information,

For those who might be wondering, the 25-35 WCF was the least common of the three standard calibers. Thus far, I have only found (123) of them as compared to a total of (1,555) Model 55 rifles. Of the (123), just (29) are the Solid Frame variation, which equates to just 1.9% of the total production. Add to that, the subject rifle is the one & only special ordered Solid Frame rifle in 25-35 WCF.

Hello, just recently became a member, learning how to navigate the resources. I have a few items to add to your database so I’ll start with the 55 because I had it out.
Model 55, S# 10498, standard, I believe, flat top open rear and Lyman gold bead front sights, no evidence of anything changed.
Hopefully one of these pictures is viewable…

Which caliber is it? The serial number tells us that it was manufactured in late August, 1927.
