These guns keep coming onto the market in Germany, especially here in Bavaria. The condition is usually good to very good.
There are also some from Bavaria Forrestal Police, Bavaria Border Police, Bavaria Municipal Police, Bavaria Prison Guard and Bavaria Game Warden.
Greetings from Bavaria

Stefan,
How much on average do they sell for ? – It would be nice to get one here in Canada but the M1’s are now “Restricted & Registered” like handguns so they can only be shot at a “Restricted Range”
I find them interesting as my mother was raised at Rosenheim, Bavaria.
Regards…D.
I’m not sure he is correct that they were issued right after the War to the various Bavarian police. I know for certain that in the British sector of Germany after the War the Bavarian Rural Police were issued Enfield No.1 Mark III bolt action rifles. They did not want them to have semi-auto weapons. It was not until the mid 1950s when the bolt action rifles were turned in for M1 Carbines, some 10 years after the end of the War.

Between $ 400 and $ 1,400, depending on the condition.
Rosenheim is a very beautiful little city at the foot of the Alps. Have you been there? It looks exactly like the Americans imagine Germany, including Lederhosen, funny hats, a lot of beer and Schuhplatteln.

The price range sounds very reasonable – I will check with the RCMP on what I would have to do to import one. Then maybe you could put me in touch with a dealer who could export. The magazines would be prohibited (any mag over 5 rounds for semi-auto rifles) unless they are pinned. But as a former Police Officer they (RCMP) usually let me navigate the rules with compliance.
However, our “Current Government” is planning new restrictions.
I have not yet been to Rosenheim – but still have relatives there. It’s on my to-do list before I run out of time. And, so is Bremerhaven – but that’s another story.
Back to the video – Are most of these carbines that you encounter Winchesters ? – I would imagine the American Collectors would really like them.
If it’s still possible to bring one to Canada I’ll contact you via the message box or by email.
Season’s Greetings . David
