Hello everyone. I’m new to the forums here and I’m doing some research on a Winchester 97 I bought that was in a collection. The manufacturers date is 1922 and it has several of the correct markings from what I have seen. The gun in pakerized with a 20″ CYL marked barrel. There are no markings in the stock and the butt plate is checkered with no Winchester logo. The receiver does not have the US markings on it either. The gun is in immaculate condition and shootable. I would like to know the value for insurance purposes. I’m not looking to sell it as I have always wanted one of these guns. I’m trying to figure out how to post pics, but I’m a free member so I may not have that ability.
Hello David,
What is the serial number on your Model 1897? The WW I Trench gun production ended in the year 1919, and Winchester never parkerized any of the WW I or WW II Model 1897/97 Trench Guns.
You can send pictures of the gun to me at – [email protected]
