Nice job Bryan. My post was wrong, it was on page 96 in Gordons book. Also in “The Story of the Winchester 1 of 1000 and 1 of 100 Rifles” by Edmund E. Lewis on page 15 was the same ad but dated September 1876. T/R

 Thanks, I can read it.

Just a little back stories on the gun that shot the upper left hand target. About 12 years ago I was on a 12 hour drive with my gun show buddies to Tulsa. One was telling me about the ad and he might have a chance to buy the gun in the testimonial. He had a contact that was trying to put a deal together and it fell apart. He described the gun as a early hvy barrel 73 and the serial number was the same as one I had considered buying from Collector firearms the day before. I had no idea it was the gun in the testimonial until then. With that information the gun was a must buy. It seemed the right thing to hand him the cell phone and Collectors number. The deal was done as we drove thru St. Louis, he still owns it. What a gun! See page 593 of the Madis book, picture of gun and ad. T/R

Bryan, keep your eye out for the Gordon books.  I lucked out in Vegas a couple years ago and found a set for $250.  It has some areas highlighted and some pages creased but I don’t collect books for resale.  I collect books for reference.  When these came out the gun shop where I hang out had boxes of these.  If my memory is correct I think originally these were around $300?

I noticed that this 4 pages (2 front and back) had fold creases in it. One fold over length wise and two folds inside. Maybe it looked something like this.
