Am I dreaming ?? I have shot lots of these Types of Ammo bought years ago , they were often cheaper than the reg boxes

But to these price levels ??
Are these prices indicative of what you would see at a US gun show ?.
I still have some full boxes and lots of empty ones. What would the empty ones go for ?
Or in the case of John Wayne boxes with empties of the distinctive nickel plated ammo headstamped Duke ?
I always have heard here in Canada to go ahead shoot the ammo but save the box . This always made sense in the circumstance where the ammo in the commemerative boxes was standard production ammo ( undistinguished cartridge markings and unplated brass)

I the case of rifle and pistol boxes collectors usually like them full of the original cartridges. Try to get older ammo with the correct head stamp and bullet weight to fill out a box, if you get a decent old box. Sealed in great condition is always best. Remember your dealing with the life expectancy of paper and shooters like yourself, so good full boxes get scarce fairly fast. Shotgun shell boxes are OK if there empty (by some) because it’s usually the graphics and colors of the box along with the rarity if the box. Sealed is still best but shells in a box tend to degrade it fast with seem splits along with chemical staining and the like. If the box is not sealed I display the boxes I have without the shells in them. Never, never, never put tape on a box. If you think those prices are high a Winchester Christmas shot shell box sold for $12,878.00 on sold USA a couple years back and it was empty with hidden repairs. There are many made but survival is less than steel and wood. 8)
This is some of mine.

25-20,
Looks like te first box was originally "sold’ @$300, but the original buyer must have backed out since it has been relisted a few more times with the minimum bid now down to $100.
The purchase price on the two .44-40 boxes seems about double what it should have been (?). With 11 bids, someone must have wanted it pretty bad……

Thanks John ……Actually in retrospect I am wondering if the bids were a scam amongst buddies to try to drive prices up. That seller never sells anything, Commemorative rifles included , just keeps a high reserve and keeps on re-listing indefinably. In his case there is not a sucker born every minute

Nice collection of boxes. I’ve been fascinated with the graphics on cartridge boxes for a few years but have not got into shot shell boxes yet.
