Ian-
Reloading is a subject unto itself and is well covered by forums dedicated to reloading. I think the Winchesters we love deserve special attention because so many of the cartridges they require are pretty much obsolete. I am more of a reloader/caster than I am a Winchester collector, as a matter of fact I came here from a forum dedicated to cast bullets. I’d be happy to discuss reloading or casting for any of the relevant cartridges I have experience with on or off the forum. I just don’t think many members are as interested in shooting Winchesters as I am, let alone loading and casting for them.

I am a collector however, I believe the old guns are meant to be shot. With that said reloading is about the only way to get the guns shooting and to do it economically. I think a reloading section specific to Winchester cartridges could be quite useful for those of us who like to shoot our collections.
I get as much enjoyment out of reloading the old cartridges as I do shooting the old rifles. Finding the components is a challenge but the joy I get after finding elusive brass cases after months of searching stirs the treasure hunting part of me!
Bert, you do much for the Winchester community, I for one am happy you would consider adding a reloading section.

For now, let’s just keep the reloading subject in the GD (General Discussion) forum. If enough people speak up and believe that it would be useful to create a separate (new) forum I will go to work creating it.Bert
Thank you, Bert, but it seems, so far, the responses to this thread, indicate such a subsection of the forum would be welcome!
Apparently, enough of us shoot these old Winchesters and the ability to handload is almost essential!
I also load for all of my firearms both collector & modern hunting with the exception of 22 rimfire of course. In the last several years I have acquired several obsolete chamberings that loading information has long been out of print for. It has been challenging to find load data referenced for these as well as finding brass & dies for them. I for one would welcome a handloading/reloading reference section added to this forum. Thank you. Bill

As usual I was mistaken. I didn’t think many of y’all reloaded so I’ve avoided discussing it much here. My “Tale of Two Rifles” article had a scary amount of reloading and casting content but I figured it was important to the story. I tried not to get too far off in the weeds. If we can relegate the loading and casting comments to a separate section maybe we can keep from boring the folks who don’t wish to roll their own.
