Kirk I am able to chamber the single .460″ round I loaded to test. According to Montana Bullet webpage, most gas check bullets are cast with Lyman no. 2 alloy, BHN15, good per their testing to 1500 fps. I don’t anticipate shooting a large number of these but hopefully when I get the chance I will be able to hit what I’m aiming at.Thank you for your suggestions, MBW has paper patch bullets available at BHN6 if needed.
Will update at a later date.

Darrin-
In my experience BHN 15 is a bit hard to obturate as Kirk describes but that depends on the bullet diameter relative to the bore diameter. 20-1 (BHN 10) and 16-1 (BHN 11) will work better if bullet diameter is significantly undersize to the bore. Personally I use 20-1 as it meets my needs, I can add pure lead or tin to adjust the ratio. The MBW gas check bullets seem to be a good alternative for folks who don’t pour their own. Lyman #2 is a great compromise for folks who use BP and smokeless powder.
