Hi All,
I need a little research help from those of you lucky enough to own a Model 75 Sporting rifle. One of the members here noticed a variance in the barrel lengths on the 75 Sporting rifles. The barrel length was specified by Winchester to be 23.745″ in length (23 3/4″) however a few have turned up with slightly longer barrels (over 24″).
If possible, could you measure your barrels and post (or email me directly) if your barrel is longer than 23 3/4″?
The best way to measure the barrel length is by inserting a cleaning rod or dowel down the barrel from the muzzle with the bolt closed (and the rifle unloaded of course). With the rod inserted all the way to the bolt face make a mark on the rod where the crown of the muzzle is located and then simply remove the rod and measure from the end to the mark with a quality scale or tape measure.
I also posted the same request on the RIMFIRECENTRAL site but you only need to respond in one place.
Thanks in advance for the help!

I have two as you know. I will check mine this weekend when my Grandson is home to help me out of the basement. My legs have all but given out on me and I cannot climb stairs. Big Larry
Hi Larry,
Thanks, I am sorry to hear about the legs, No rush on checking, Tom can do it for you the next time he is over or I can do it on my next trip through to Cody.

Jeff,Just so you know someone is paying attention……both of mine are 23-3/4″.
I’ll take care of measuring Larry’s if necessary.

Welcome to TGCA, saw your name in the magazine just this morning. San Marcos is a nice show but the fall show is in Denton and I’ll get to sleep in my own bed!
Mike
I am going to try for the Denton show this fall, hope to see you there!

Sounds like a plan, should be a more enjoyable trip. We seem to be gaining Winchester collectors at every show but some of the Colt collections are pretty spectacular. You planning on being at this year’s Cody show? I’m already looking forward to seeing everyone there, Bert and I will have the same table as last year but this year I’m hoping he’ll be bringing more stuff. I almost had to buy a rifle to go with that ammo he had last year.
Mike
Of course I will be at Cody, that is the one show I try not to let work interfere with.
My table will be in the same general vicinity as previously (near Rick Hill) but I am not sure it is in the the exact same spot because I have been shuffled around the past couple of years. Small show though, I will find you.

Jeff-
Back on topic! Dug out that pretty 75 Sporter. SN 85021 has the standard 23 3/4” barrel. May need to take it to the range tomorrow if the weather holds.
Mike
Thanks Mike,
I appreciate the info!
