I “discovered’ the 250 last summer and I’ve become somewhat obsessed with it. The history and lack of history is interesting as are the wild variations in prices. I’d like to find a 250 Deluxe to add to my collection and maybe a 250 just for range shooting.
If you have one for sale or know anyone that does please contact me. Yes, I am following Gunbroker etc. and I’ve gone through as much of the history of the gun as I can find.
Do you own one? I’d enjoy hearing about your experiences with it and I’ve got my eyes open for the ones noted above.
Love this guns curves. Of all my Winchesters this one is the only one that I think has ‘sensual’ appeal with the rounded and curved elements.
What a shame they didn’t make this gun earlier when cost cutting wasn’t the goal. Nonetheless…still want a target shooter and a deluxe.
Any interest in setting up a space on the forum just for this gun…the 250 and 255?
Thanks for reading
Andrew
I have a 150, 250, and 255, haven’t had them out to the range yet but they’re on the list!
I had far more luck hunting for them locally and on gunsinternational than I did on Gunbroker. Since they don’t sell for too much money, even in really nice shape, I don’t think people bother with that platform too much.
We’ve banged around discussion on here before a few times about setting up a modern section….seems to always revert back to pre-64 stuff only although I think one day it will happen….Winchester Collectors will be of all ages and models before too long (if not already). I’d share some pics but no time to dig them out of the back of the safe today…
I’d love to see a picture of your 250 if and when you have a chance. Been looking everywhere and every 250 I find seems to have an issue. One beautiful 250 deluxe with a rusted barrel exterior. Another nice copy with someone’s initials carved into the stock. I guess this is what happens when the initial offerings only cost $60. Anyway, I’m completely obsessed with this gun. The 255 also looks nice but due to the caliber I can’t use it in competition. After looking at about 20 samples I’m convinced I’ll need one to shoot and one to add to the collection.
Thanks for your note. I’m jealous.

Yes I got lucky and two of my three came from the same person and all three are in almost new condition. They were on GI and even within a drivable distance. I think I paid 250-300 for each iirc. Good luck searching! I’ll remember to grab them out for pics if I can. Just got home today from a 3 month absence, lots on the list to do!
